About Apila

Oakland-based, Finnish-American artist, Matlena Hourula, launched Apila Design in the fall of 2013. She is inspired by the natural landscapes of Finland and Northern California, the ephemeral beauty of memory, and by her talented friends and family. She loves creating all things beautiful and sharing her simple refined designs on organic clothing, safe for wee ones.
