Hape Toys takes the future very seriously. Committed to inspiring children, they also believe it is the current generation’s responsibility to leave the world in better condition than they found it. They do their part through responsible production and use of natural, renewable materials, such as wood, bamboo and water-based paints. In 1995, the Germany-based Hape opened an innovative new factory in Ningbo, China, embracing ecological, technological, and efficiency practices. Here they began experimenting with bamboo toys, due to the easy availability of this highly renewable resource throughout mainland China. Hape introduced its first full line of Bamboo 2.0 toys in 2005, and have continued to expand on this playful and sustainable line, as well as their numerous other toys, games and puzzles made from responsibly harvested wood.
